Tips & Tricks
- ✨Use PNG format for text-heavy documents to maintain sharp, readable text without compression artifacts.
- ✨Choose JPG with 80-90% quality for photographs or colorful pages where small file size matters more than pixel-perfect accuracy.
- ✨Use 2x scale factor for the best balance between image quality and file size - it produces crisp images suitable for most screens and print.
- ✨For documents intended for large-format printing or retina displays, use 3x scale for maximum sharpness.
- ✨If your PDF has many pages, note that this tool renders the first page. The metadata will indicate the total number of pages in the document.
- ✨For best performance with very large PDFs, ensure your browser has enough available memory by closing unused tabs.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. All processing happens entirely within your browser using JavaScript. Your PDF file never leaves your device, which means your documents remain completely private and secure. There is no server involved at any point.
PNG is a lossless format that preserves every detail of the rendered page, making it ideal for text documents, diagrams, and anything requiring crisp edges. JPG uses lossy compression to produce smaller files, which works well for pages with photographs or when file size is a priority. For most document conversions, PNG is recommended.
The scale factor controls the resolution of the output image. At 1x, the image matches the standard PDF rendering resolution (72 DPI equivalent). At 2x, you get double the pixels in each dimension (effectively 144 DPI), producing sharper images. At 3x, you get triple the resolution (216 DPI), which is excellent for print or retina displays but results in larger files.
Currently, this tool renders the first page of the PDF and provides metadata indicating how many pages the document contains. For multi-page conversion, you can re-upload and process individual pages. Full batch export with ZIP packaging is planned for a future update.
You can upload PDF files up to 50 MB in size. Since processing happens in your browser, very large or complex PDFs may take longer to render depending on your device performance and available memory.
If the image appears blurry, try increasing the scale factor to 2x or 3x. A higher scale factor renders the PDF at a greater resolution, producing sharper output. Also ensure you are using PNG format, as JPG compression at lower quality levels can introduce blurriness.
The tool requires an initial internet connection to load the PDF.js rendering library from a CDN. Once the page and library are cached by your browser, subsequent conversions may work offline depending on your browser caching settings.
